Broccoli "Pasta"

Ever crave pasta, but without the "pasta"? Here's an easier take on a pasta substitute without using spaghetti squash.  All you need is shredded broccoli (also known as broccoli slaw) and your favorite sauce and toppings. You can take this dish in so many different directions. Use a tomato sauce and ground meat. Use pesto and chopped chicken.Use a white wine sauce and seafood. Today, I used sesame seeds, almonds and an Asian chili sauce. You can easily add a meat to this, I just didn't have any on hand at the moment.

First off, go find broccoli slaw. It's found with the bagged lettuce and salad mixes and consists of shredded broccoli and carrots.

I tossed a good handful of the broccoli slaw into a saute pan with about 1/3 cup boiling water. Boil for 5 minutes. You may need to add more water during the 5 minutes. You want to be left with very little to no water at the end.

If you were wanting to add meat to this dish, cook the meat before and set aside. Add the meat back into the pan after the broccoli is done cooking. Add all other toppings and sauce at this time too. I added sesame seeds and slivered almonds along with two different Asian chili sauces. Thanks again Jessica for letting me raid your fridge for these sauces before you moved, they're delicious!

Serve and enjoy! Can be a main dish if mixing in meat to the dish or as a side.
